Art and the Art of Tying

This year I have decided to try something new and go back to working with colored pencils. I first fell in love with colored pencils because they are easy to use and take along on trips. This season, my focus is going to be on Fly Fishing and Tying Flies. This is the first in my series this year. The fly is called a Red Copper John. A traditional Copper John used copper wire for the body. This variation on that traditional fly uses red wire for the body. I am also going to include what it takes to tie one yourself if you are so inclined. This will be a fun winter of tying flies and then drawing them.

  • 2X-long nymph hook (size 14-20)

  • Slotted Tungsten Bead - Gold

  • Lead Wire (. 015)

  • Black, 70 denier thread.

  • Peacock Hurl or

  • Goose Biots (brown)

  • Red Wire

  • Pearl Flashabou.

  • UV Resin
