Dodging Thunderstorms

When you plan an annual fishing trip on a river in spring, being flexible is key. The last time we fished the John Day River, it was running around 2000cfs and this year is was running around 8000cfs. While this is good for whitewater enthusiasts, it isn’t so good for fishing, so we had to look at some different options and visited some of the area’s local reservoirs. With the help of our guide, Mah-Hah Outfitters, we were able to visit this little no name reservoir and try to get in some good bass fishing between thunderstorms. We had several big storms skirt our area but the last one of the afternoon came on in full force. We were able to have the same experience for the whole trip and get in some good fishing before the late afternoon storms hit. Turned out we visited some new areas, get in some good fishing, and got to see some spectacular weather. This is some spectacular skies and landscapes for future artwork.
