This is the last of the pastels that I created last season. (I am a fall/winter creative person). I just returned from the trip that was the inspiration for this pastel painting and as usual it was a fun and beautiful trip. I am very fortunate to still be able to enjoy this special places. “In the Net” may be one of my favorite pieces. It is the dance . . . the water, the sunlight, the river, the fisherperson, and the fish. The experience is hard to describe but I think that this painting begins to capture that feeling. We do not keep the fish on this river and use barbless hooks so that most of the fish self-release or are easily released. The fish are mostly cutthroats. Cutthroats have some amazing colors in the fall and their “cuts” can be almost fluorescent orange red. Being able to enjoy the beauty of the fish, even just for a minute, is what “In the Net” is all about. (watermark is not part of prints or original) ArtworkbyLlona.com. (w .
