Well, if the saying is true, then as the last one in, I must be the rotten egg. I have set a goal for myself this year that I may not obtain. It involves Nordic Classic skiing a distance that I haven’t been able to ski in a very, very long time. I have been gradually working my way up to longer distance outings all season. I got a little waylaid early in the season with Covid but have still managed to increase my time and distance. Yesterday I entered the 2023 Remastered Ski Race at Ponderosa State Park. I did the 30km event. There are 3 events, 15km, 30km, and 45km. Most people are skating (faster technique). Well, I actually put in a faster time than I expected. I had good wax, and the conditions were pretty good, although a little cold at the start. BUT I was the last one to cross the finish line. Yup, the rotten egg. And lo and behold, two of my friends came up and want to ski with me next year. I guess you can inspire others even if you are the rotten egg.
